Assignment: Podcast Plan & Recording

Podcast Plan
My group BTFM created a podcast called the Dos and Don’ts with BTFM. The type of format we used was free talk, and did not use a script we spoke freely if we stayed on topic. Our logline is the “The dos and don’ts of……”. Each week we try to answer the question, which can range from humorous scenarios to serious real world struggles. At the beginning of each episode Steven introduces the cast and then opens on our topic. We each take a turn to answer a do and don’t and flow into a conversation. We believed that having the show unscripted helped the podcast feel more natural and engaging for the audience to hear.
When reviewing the competition sites, we learned what we needed to do to draw an audience. We had to know our audience, and we targeted college students and young adults. Choose a format, which was free talk. We also established a schedule and tried to keep editing at a bare minimum. The next step was to distribute, promote, and launch the podcast. Lastly, we had to keep the audience engaged so they would tune back in for the next episode. After reviewing we planned our podcast so we can get the best results.
There are ten planned episodes, each are listed below:
1.      The Dos and Don’ts of Dating
·         In this episode, we discuss what to do and what not to do when going on a first date with someone.
2.      The Do’s and Don’ts of Clubbing
·         We talk about the best way of partying in the club, how to have a good night and how to avoid a terrible time.
3.      The Do’s and Don’ts of Moving
·         We discuss moving away from our parents and the best way to tell them, and how to manage the stress of leaving home.
4.      The Dos and Don’ts of Finals Week
·         We go over the do’s and don’ts of surviving finals week and discuss our struggles with the stressful time.
5.      The Dos and Don’ts of Vacations
·         We discuss how to have the best time on vacation without going broke, staying safe, but also have a life changing experience.
6.      The Do’s and Don’ts of Making New Friends
·         Do be friendly and open, don’t be a clingy friend too early.
7.      The Do’s and Don’ts of Texting
·         How to sound natural via text without having to worry about a misunderstanding.
8.      The Do’s and Don’ts of Impressing Their Parents
·         We talk about the best way to impress a significant other’s family so we can stay in their good graces.
9.      The Do’s and Don’ts of Dealing with Anxiety
·         We go over the best way to handle panic attacks, stress, and nervous energy while also saying the worst ways for dealing with anxiety.
10.  The Do’s and Don’ts of Making a Low Budget Podcast
·         The cast jokes around and says the best ways to run a podcast and explain the struggle of keeping an audience.
Our series can compete in the marketplace because we have relatable topics and keep our reactions natural. Nothing feels scripted and want our audience to feel like they can engage with us. The better our relationship with our audience is, the better the podcast will be. Audience interest will increase if we keep giving honest answers, whether they are relatable or controversial.

News Article Blog Post

The End Of Ringling Brothers

A Day at the Circus

The Ringling Brothers Circus will be having its final shows. According to the article the final show will be on May 21 after having several decades of performing for children and adults worldwide. Once known as one of the best shows on Earth, it has lost its audience after several years of having daring stunts and performances. Many have chosen to go to a movie theater to find entertainment, but they have found a way to entertain modern audiences. Ringling Brothers Circus mixes their performances with projections and video to catch up with modern technology, but it is more lackluster. They made the stunts more daring by creating a show based in Outer Space. They kept some classics such as the motorcyclists and acrobats, but have discarded their elephants after having backlash for using them in their shows.
The use of elephants ended last year, which has saddened the older generation but change is always happening and more animals need to stay in the wild rather than captivity. Many people would have heated debates on blogs or twitter conversation about whether the elephants should remain in the circus. Some of their other wild animals remain since their animals are what made them stand out to the audience. Thus, the animals must perform until the show has ended. Until then, children and adults continue to enjoy the final shows while there is still a tent placed on the ground.

Team Members of BTFM: Alexis Morales, Mike Bohling, Steven Torres, Melanie Flores

This week BTFM was created and I had the pleasure of meeting my group mates, Alexis, Steven, and Mike. Our first assignment together was to create a shared Google Drive. I contributed by reading off the instructions and helping to provide any information that we needed. Alexis created our Google Drive and also shared any information we needed as well. Steven found someone to take our photo and was the one to get our introductions started. Mike also helped by organizing the Google Doc so we could know the name of the person who took our photo.
